Saints fear the wrath of an Angel

Yeovil-v-Manchester-UnitedWhat a difference a Christmas break makes. A month ago Chelsea had won the league. Southampton and West Ham were going to be in the Champions League. And families across Britain were hopeful that their lives would mean something in 2015.

Fast forward to Monday morning and the Nation is furious they can’t wear pyjamas to work while simultaneously drowning in coffee. A wet realization has soaked commuters. This year is going to be exactly the same as the last.

Fortunately there is some football this Sunday and after the turgid set of fixtures United fans have endured over the last fortnight it’s going to be nice to get back to Old Trafford.

United’s Christmas matches on the road have been like a cruise for those who want to see which are the best places in England to wake up without any shoes. Similar to going on a gap year travel adventure to explore where you’re most likely to get punched for having GCSEs.

Though the results have been indifferent, the performances have been less inspiring than a self-help course taught by Ched Evans.

United fans will be hoping that with the return of Angel Di Maria Old Trafford will once again be lit up by talented attacking football, rather than regimented and clueless North Korean inspired tactics.

Manchester United Team News

We only have one injury, can you believe it?”, words that undoubtedly signal the end of humanity as we know it and the dawn of a future worshipping our giant ant overlords.

The news mean United welcome back, Marcos Rojo, Daly Blind, Marouane Fellaini, Luke Shaw, Rafael and Antonio Valencia.

Ashley Young is the only player left sidelined with a hamstring injury that could keep him out for six weeks.

Southampton Team News

Maya Yoshida is currently on International duty so won’t be available for the Saints. Although Jack Cork and Nathanial Clyne return from injury, Sadio Mane will be out because a calf injury.

Key Men

If the game at St Mary’s was anything to go by, tomorrow’s clash will be decided entirely on which striker is firing. United of recent have lacked pace in the side and therefore lacked penetration. For this reason Angel Di Maria will be vitally important in the resurgence of United’s attacking play.

While there has been a lack of pace there has also been a lack of creativity meaning Radamel Falcao, despite showing positive signs, has yet to hit full form. So with the pacey Argentinian back in the side we hope to see these two linking up with devastating effect.

Predicted line up

De Gea, Rojo, Smalling, Evans, Shaw, Valencia, Carrick, Di Maria, Rooney, Van Persie, Falcao
