A selection of Manchester United fans have appreciated the contribution of Mason Greenwood during the club’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in the first-leg of the League Cup semi-final.
The Red Devils were thoroughly dominated through the opening half of the derby and they could have quite easily conceded more than three goals, had the Citizens been clinical with their finishing.
In the second half, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side showed more willingness to attack with a 3-0 deficit in front of them and their efforts eventually contributed to a single goal through Mason Rashford.
Prior to that strike, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood combined together in the attack and the latter provided a lovely weighted pass which allowed Rashford to beat Claudio Bravo at the far post.
Greenwood did struggle with his off-the-ball movement with just 26 touches in 81 minutes on the field but some of the supporters have talked about the positives from the performance of the club graduate.
Twitter Reactions:
Mason Greenwood has more assists this decade than Lionel Messi. ?

Lovely weight of pass from Greenwood, better than we've seen from anyone we've had play as a number 10 this season

Greenwood has now contributed eight goals and two assists in his breakthrough campaign with the club and his recent run of form has been rewarded with a consistent run of games from the starting lineup.
The 18-year-old is indeed highly rated by the fans and the backroom staff at United but Solskjaer needs to handle the youngster with care and not necessarily put the pressure on him to make a regular impact.
Manchester United are winless in each of their three games in the New Year. They have the opportunity to bag their first victory of 2020 when they host Norwich City in the Premier League this weekend.
