The Chatroom Experiment

An open question to all the regulars:

Over the last few months I’ve learnt that you guys need somewhere to camp up for a few hours or a day or so. When new content is published in quick succession it makes it really hard to stick together in one place and chat away. With that in mind and the ‘brick-wall’ that is; getting a forum installed. I had an idea that you might like and find useful, me included.

Basically, if there’s a new post that needs publishing but there’s a post already gathering a lot of discussion and hasn’t run it’s course yet, I’ll set that to the chatroom post so you can easily find it in the new tab ‘Chatroom’. Once it’s run its course and people move on to the next post I’ll swap it when the time’s right.

It’s an idea that needs to be looked after manually and I’m happy to do that. The beauty of it is though is you can all help me operate it too. If you think or want a certain post to be in the chatroom then you’re more than welcome to request it. Just say the word and it won’t take me too long to replace the old one with the new one.

We’ll trial it for a bit anyway and see how we get on, it might prove a great idea or it might fall on its arse, either way we’ve had a go until I can get something more ‘chatroom stroke forum like’.

Cheers all, if you’ve got any comments let me know, any suggestions etc etc more than welcome.

Ian.

  1. Red Ranter?

Chatroom is a pain because I need to click on multiple links to jump topics/debates… if chatrooms are well implemented, I will give it a try

    • It was an old post I edited from 2007 by RedRanter to avoid tweeting a new post. It tweeted it anyway!

      So apologies, RedRanter hasn’t returned.

  2. I am doing all the superstitious moves I can pull off to turn this Manchester Titanic around and avoid (another) iceberg.

    1) I am playing FIFA United vs. Wolves the night before
    2) I will wear my United jersey (Giggs 11) during the game.

If that doesn’t work then next week:
    3) I will get my daughter a new United outfit as she outgrew her other one right around Champions League final with Barca…

      • I agree, but let’s not forget why he’s not captain in the first place – his fitness issues! Hope he can remain fit, if he’s out as well then we are desperately in need of someone solid in there.

        • Once upon a time he had no injuries, he’s a natural machine, unfortunately he’s had a bad couple of years but before that nothing.

Ledley King should be an example, train him individually ready for every game.

If he stays fit for the season, we’ll be ok (in defence), especially if he’s made capt.

    • Rooney’s been shite for a while now. Give him the armband to wake him up from the goalless coma he’s slipped into.

  3. We should give the armband to Carrick. His authority and big voice will put our lads in place 😀

  4. I think we should give captaincy to Fletcher. With all our midfielders out he is going to get a lot of games and he has experience captaining Scotland

  5. Ian, can you make the “Chatroom” tab above link directly into the the chatroom article… it would improve site-navigation if tab led directly to comments/article.
