Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has sent a message to the fans after testing positive for COVID-19.
Following the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the news at his post-match press conference.
“Unfortunately for Eric, he won’t be with us for a little while because he’s been away with the Ivory Coast and tested positive for COVID,” Solskjaer said when asked about his absence from the squad.
“So unfortunately he’s not back in the country yet,” the manager added.
Bailly released a video message on his official Instagram account on Monday, which was shared by the club on their official Twitter page.
Bailly’s absence could be a worry for United with the important Europa League fixture against Granada set to take place this week.
Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire paired up against Brighton on Sunday, but with a packed schedule to follow Solskjaer may give Axel Tuanzebe a start on Thursday.
