UEFA Euro Story – Win the DVD

International teams from across Europe have battled for supremacy to become European Champions since 1960 when France hosted the inaugural championships won by the Soviet Union with Yashin, Ivanov & Bubukin out muscling their Yugoslav counterparts.

52 years and 13 finals later, Poland & Ukraine host the championships with Spain arriving as both current holders and current favourites to win the championship with Betfair’s Euro 2012 market. Whatever happens the tournament promises to be a hotly contested one with ageing world stars going head-to-head with more youthful, up-and-coming talent.

This DVD boxset (available from Amazon) takes you on a journey through time chronicling the drama, the passion and the untold stories behind each tournament.

Each documentary begins by pinpointing a key moment from that years tournament, from Antonin Panenka’s classic penalty in 1976, Oliver Bierhoff’s golden goal in 1996 and Michel Platini’s heroics in 1984.

These iconic moments become the focal point from which the other themes and stories of that tournament are explored through the eyes of star players and coaches including Luis Aragones, Just Fontaine, Franco Baresi, Jurgen Klinsmann, Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, Iker Casillas and others such as Terry Venables and Alesandro Del Piero.

Each documentary blends these tales with exciting match action, the series also unveils previously unseen, behind-the-scnes footage, iconic stills which have undergone revolutionary photo seperation along with additional newsreel footage to provide fabulous tributes to these historic, memorable events.

This years championships promise to be one of the most entertaining and open championships for many years with many onlookers unable to nail down an out-and-out favourite. My personal favourites (at a price) are France.

With Lloris in goal, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Evra in defence, Remy and Benzema up front and a plethora of midfield options including Newcastle United’s highly impressive Yohan Cabaye and the much sought after Yann M’Vila alongside proven world class stars in Ribery, Nasri and Gourcuff they have some squad to shout about and the potential to sweep aside all-comers with ease. At a mind-bogglingly generous 13.5 (25/2) I suggest they represent the value in the market unless their Achilles heel undermines their chances once again.
