United favourites to kill Chelsea’s hopes of retaining FA Cup title

Soccer - AXA FA Cup - Sixth Round Replay - Chelsea v Manchester UnitedUnited are a top priced 1.83 with Coral to beat Chelsea in their last quarter-final FA Cup clash at Old Trafford.

It will be the eleventh tie in the competition between the pair, and the Red Devils lead the head-to-head record by eight wins to two.

Chelsea have also never won in five previous FA Cup games at Old Trafford, losing four, drawing one and scoring just one goal in total.

United have also have only lost two of their 20 FA Cup home games, winning 16 and drawing two, so the stats are certainly good as far as far as they are concerned.

Sir Alex’s side have also been in far better form than the Blues this season, and will certainly be up for this having been robbed of a potential Champions League triumph over Real Madrid in midweek when Nani was controversially sent off.

The gaffer will be out to make a statement after that game, and I fully expect the players to respond and deliver the goods.

Robin van Persie not surprisingly heads the first goalscorer betting at a top priced 4.75 with bet365, but the value could be Hernandez at 6 with Blue Square and sportingbet.

The young Mexican as netted in five of his last six games against the Chelsea in all competitions, and can also be backed at a tasty looking 2.4 with sportingbet in the anytime scorer market.
That looks a big price given his record, especially as he is as short as even money (2) elsewhere.

The last six meetings between these sides in all competitions have seen 30 goals scored, with 14 netted in just two meetings so far this term, so over 2.5 goals looks a pretty solid punt at 1.67 with bet365 and Betfred.

I think United will be quick out of the blocks and go for the jugular, so backing them at a standout 3 with Blue Square in the HT/FT market also makes plenty of appeal.

I am going to take them to run out 3-1 winners, and that outcome is priced up at a best of 15 with Betfred.
