United target hands in transfer request

REU_2161884Pedro has asked to leave Barcelona and has submitted a formal transfer request but he won’t leave the club for less than £21m, the European champions confirmed on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for over a month now, as Louis Van Gaal looks to add creativity and pace to a frontline that looks dangerously short of both.

Barcelona’s manager Luis Enrique had publicly stated he intended to keep the 2010 World Cup winner at the club and that his future would only be decided after tonight European Super Cup fixture against Sevilla.

Pedro was named on the bench but Barcelona technical secretary, Robert Fernández, admitted the player has asked to leave.

“Pedro asked us for the transfer,” he said.

“We are not going to accept less than €30m for him, it’s not negotiable.”

Assuming there isn’t some sort of swop arrangement involving Hernandez for Kane seriously in the offing, which I doubt, then Pedro seems a good bet. So provided he hasn’t been put off by Stoichkov’s silly remarks, then let’s get it done. Maybe we can then settle into 4 3 3 with Rooney, Pedro and Memphis upfront!

Pedro AND Gaitan? And now Biglia as well? Seems a bit confusing, BUT, I will be very happy with any, all or none of those IF the one about Otamendi is true.

@Karl: Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t Gaitan and Biglia midfielders? We don’t want any more surely? I can understand Pedro and even more Otamendi to give some solidity to that central defence. But where’s old favourite Blind going to play if Otamendi arrives? I would think LvG would be very reluctant to bench him. LB instead of Shaw? That would be a mistake.
