Manchester United have a number of players currently out on loan as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to give first team experience to some of the younger players and move on some fringe players.
We reported on Tuesday that Marcos Rojo will be returning to Old Trafford this summer when his loan deal in Argentina expires. The defender is heading into the final 12 months of his contract at United.
Alexis Sanchez is arguably the biggest name and highest paid player at the club that is currently out on loan.
The Chilean forward is in Italy with Internazionale but has only been able to start two Serie A games this season due to injuries. However, the league’s suspension will have allowed Sanchez to regain his fitness and be available for Inter’s final 11 games when the league restarts later this month.
Another player loaned out to an Italian club is Chris Smalling. The defender’s time at Manchester United appears to be over and he had been spending the 2019-20 campaign at AS Roma.
The 30-year-old had started 21 of Roma’s 26 Serie A games this season prior to the disruption so hopefully Paulo Fonseca will want to keep the England international on board beyond this campaign.
Dean Henderson has been Sheffield United’s first choice goalkeeper again this season. After helping the Blades to Premier League promotion in 2018-19 the Englishman has been a big part of the side competing with us for the European places.
Sky Sports journalist James Cooper has given an update on the trio. Whilst no official decision has yet been announced he does expect all three players to remain on loan for the extension of the seasons. Cooper said:
“No official decision has been made as yet but it seems more than likely that Dean Henderson, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling will all get to stay put at Sheffield United, Inter Milan and AS Roma respectively. With a fully fit squad to call upon, Solskjaer has no real reason to bring them back.”
